Leading European PC Retailer to Show LS-120 Equipped Computers at CeBIT `97 OAKDALE, Minn. (March 13, 1997) -- Vobis AG today announced that it plans to integrate LS-120 drives into its Highscreen commercial PC line in late spring 1997.
The announcement was made today at the CeBIT `97 show in Hannover, Germany. Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN), the new imaging and information company recently spun-off by 3M, and a co-developer of LS-120 technology, manufactures and markets the 3M-brand LS-120 Diskette.
One of Europe's leading retail chains and market leader in Germany, Vobis becomes the latest company to join the broadening industry support for the LS-120 high-capacity diskette storage solution. Vobis will be offering LS-120 technology in its Highscreen PC models and will be displaying the models at its booth at CeBIT.
"With drive and media production at high volume, the companies behind LS-120 technology have shown they are prepared to deliver on their promise of a new diskette standard," said Frank Hill, director, Imation Data Storage Products, Europe. "Today's addition of Vobis to the list of major companies behind the LS-120 is a strong indication that the technology is picking up more momentum."
Other LS-120 companies include Compaq Computer Corp., Fujitsu ICL, Hitachi-Maxell, Ltd., Matsushita-Kotobuki Electronics Industries Ltd. (MKE), Mitsubishi Electric Corp., O.R. Technology and Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG.
